ABOUT TANGMERE SECTOR MODELLERS IPMS
Supporting Tangmere Military Aviation Museum
TSM IPMS was originally set up in 2016 by Carl, Rich and John. We are the official modelling group for the Military Aviation Museum. Meeting once a month and attedning regional shows throughout the year. The highlight of our year is the Scale Model Show at the museum held over the first May bank holiday and the UK nationals in Telford.
The club's aim is to promote the hobby of scale modelling through displaying at the museum once a month, attending scale model shows, hosting the Scale Model Show at the museum and promoting the museum and the fantastic work it does to preserve and tell the story of RAF Tangmere.

T101
Celebrating 101 years of Tangmere Airfield.
TSM IPMS aim to celebrate the 101 years of this iconic airfield by displaying scale models that have some connection to the airfield. IPMS UK have kindly loaned a superb permanant display cabinet for the club which is situated in the foyer of the museum opposite the cinema where you will find some of the more interesting subjects connected to the airfield.
Established in 1917 for the USAAF Bomber Command who were planning to fly Handley Page 0/400 bombers across the channel ot quickly became a staging airfield for aircraft of the RFC flying out to squadrons on the front line. During the inter war years the airfield was adopted by the newly formed RAF but it wasnt until the second world war that the airfield became an integral patt of the defence of the UK. Many famous squadrons and pilots flew from Tangmere.
The cold war saw the decline of the airfield as the main threat came from the east. The airfield however is proudly associated with two world speed records (the aircraft can be seen in the museum) and several years of spectacular airshows.
